Regular Exercise: The Secret Way To Avoid Upper Back Pain
When talking about back pain, the emphasis on the lower region cannot be avoided. This is probably because the said part carries more weight and is more tired out compared to the upper region of the back. This is, however, not enough reason to completely neglect the possibility of an upper back pain.
The most common reason for back pains is one’s lifestyle. The conveniences we can afford through the modern equipment made available by our progressing technology have lead to a sedentary life. The lack of exercise in particular has made us more susceptible to all kinds of ailments available on earth.
Little do we know that not only do exercises keep us fit and look good, but they are also one of the best ways to prevent disorders and ailments that will haunt is later. They keep us healthy enough to fight off infections and strong enough to deal with rigorous activities. Here are simple routines that are very helpful in avoiding back pains and the likes.
1. Stretches – For the pectoralis stretch, one can stand in a doorframe, stand straight and reach out to the upper part of the doorframe. With the hands in that position, one can lean forward and stretches the back muscles in the process.
Another stretching exercise is focused on the thorax. In this routine, one should keep the legs completely extended in a straight position. Lowering the head down and stretching the back muscles, one should keep the knees in place and should not allow them to bend.
2. Arm Slide – Placing one’s back against the wall as well as the arms, with the palms facing outwards, one proceeds to raise up and lower down the arms. This is done for the purpose of stretching the upper back muscles. A repetition of 20 times is recommended for this routine.
3. Midtrap Exercise – One should lie down on the stomach with a pillow under the chest and the arms placed on the sides with the palms facing the floor. While in this position, one should raise the arms to highest position possible. The shoulder blades are squeezed with this routine, and back pain is relieved.
One of the most significant effects of these exercises comes in the form of strengthened back muscles as well as shoulders and spinal cord. More so, these routines do play a part in maintaining a healthier body for a longer life.
