Although mostly referred to as an ailment that comes along with age, back pain affects the population across ages, gender and social background. There is, however, a higher number of cases of back pain within the blue collar society considering the manual work they are exposed to. More so, this is not enough evidence to say that back pain that of the masses alone.

This usually lasts for just less than a month, but serious cases may cause discomfort for a longer period of time.

The ailment spells nothing less than major discomfort. Aside from the stabbing pain, one may reach the point of not being able to move in certain ways. This results to a limit on the activities one can experience when having a back pain.

Sudden causes of back pain may include simply lifting something that might be too heavy for one’s capacity. Overstretching of the muscles in the back may also cause a strain, sprain or spasm and thus, lead to back pain.

Long-staying back pain, on the other hand, may be an indication of more serious medical conditions. Certain problems that affect the various organs of the body can contribute to a back pain. These are kidney diseases, bladder malfunctions and infections and ovarian disorders to name a few. Even a simple infection in the appendix may cause such pain in the lower back.

Poor and unhealthy habits may also lead to back pain. Gaining weight during pregnancy and obesity can also cause back pain. It can also be an effect of having bad posture as well as a consistent improper sleeping position. Back pain is also one of the many negative impacts of smoking.

There are various ways to deal with back pain. For temporary back pain, one can get involved in active exercise activities to strengthen the back muscles and make it more able to deal with too much weight and the likes. More so, the simple back pain due to pressure can be comforted by an oil massage or an herbal tonic. For more serious back pains though, it is necessary to consult a doctor to get a correct diagnosis of one’s condition.
